My love for him would rip my heart in two
If I let it even for a moment.
My mind can not comprehend what to do
When he's so near I can detect his scent.

My heart has never beat so quickly as
It did the first day I saw him walk by
And smile at me in greeting as I passed.
My tongue was pinned, my mouth felt very dry.

And later I began to wonder why
He seemed different from the other guys;
His face would not retreat from my mind's eye
And yet his features I could not despise.

Now comes the pain that only lovers know,
And though I bake I can't resist the glow.
